NEW SECRET SERVICE YUKON HOUSES FUTURISTIC GATLING GUN (ht: TPS)
There are some really sick, twisted people out there who would wish to do harm to President Obama. If you’re one of them, the above video is meant to scare you off.
Take a look, what you’re seeing is a Dillon M134D Gatling Gun tucked away inside the Secret Service Yukon XL that follows Obama’s state-of-the-art Cadillac limousine (with five-inch-thick bulletproof armor) in the presidential motorcade.
The gun can be deployed in less than five seconds and shoots 4,000 rounds per minute.
And not just any bullets, 7.62mm bullets that will pretty much tear a would-be attacker to shreds. In fact, I think it would probably tear an entire building to shreds.
If that weren’t enough, the gun can instantly pivot 360-degrees… so good luck outrunning it.

Handel, a German who initially made his fame writing Italian operas for English audiences, he found in the 1730s that the public wanted something new and more understandable. After composing some three dozen Italian operas, works of great musical brilliance but often dramatically inert and set to mediocre librettos, he shifted his energies to creating what are in essence sacred English operas.

Back in early November a small group of pastors were treated to a visit by Iain Murray sharing about lessons we can learn from the puritans. We all found it extremely helpful and encouraging as we press on in ministry.

b. secret prayer
c. praise in prayer and song
d. watchfulness – keep short accounts with God
3. Sanctification of the Lord’s Day
4. The importance of unity
5. Fear of Roman Catholocism
6. Example of the power of the word of God preached

Dr. Beeke will be at Christ Church in March 7 and 8, 2009. Please keep posted for the topic. Until then, I will be providing quotes from his writings, on occasions. I encourage you to pick up any book he has written or contact me and I will suggest a book. I am not a Beeke aficianodo in his writings, but I can suggest out of the ones I have read.
The way to godly living is surprisingly simple: we are to walk with God in His appointed way (Micah 6:8), diligently using the means of grace and the spiritual disciplines, and waiting upon the Holy Spirit for blessing. Note that godly living involves both discipline and grace. This emphasis upon duty and grace is fundamental to Reformed, experiential ideas about godly living. As John Flavel wrote, “The duty is ours, though the power be God’s. A natural man has no power, a gracious man hath some, though not sufficient; and that power he hath depends upon the assisting strength of Christ.
Quoted in Feed My Sheep: A Passionate Plea for Preaching. 2nd edition, 2008 by Reformation Trust Publishing, an imprint of Ligonier Ministries. Available here.

As JMEjr were leaving Edventure today we were speaking about whose at home and how my precious WLW may have been able to get out by herself because a friend was going to have some time with CJE. He commented that they were going to be home alone and was that ok. Note this friend, though 5′ 4″, she is an adult and it is ok for them to be home without Daddy or Mommy there. I said just like we leave y’all with Neenee at times. JMEjr said, “Neenee is NOT an adult and we should not leave CJE alone with her.”
Perspectives. For those who do not know, Neenee is my mother.
