The boys are doing well and Lauren and I are finding that God sustains us and strengthens. Caleb seems to be taking longer naps, though he still has his moments when we find ourselves calling upon the Lord to sustain and strengthen. We are finding ourselves all too much comparing the patterns and nature of Caleb to Joshua. At these times we remind ourselves that God has given to us two totally different children and we are to begin, now, rearing them as different children. What may fit and suit one child, will not necessarily do so for the other. We have had many victories over the past several days. Hard to remember each. But we are experiencing an “awe and wonder of God” in our home and marriage.
This past Lord’s Day (April 29th), JMEjr moved up a class in the SS hour and Worship hour. He is now in the Two Year Olds room. Bigger boy toys, more teaching. I checked in through the window at one point and there he was sitting with the other children listening to a story being read. How do they do that? He did not even have any food at that time. AMAZING!! He was sent home with a worksheet of what was taught and a prayer and a memory verse of sort. For several weeks now, we have also been getting JMEjr toward the end of service and bringing him in to the Sanctuary to sing the final Hymn, receive the Benediction and to sing the Doxology. This has been a good time and experience, we believe. He comes in mostly quiet and I believe is in awe himself seeing several hundred people singing and hearing the music being offered.
Disciplining has been becoming more of a readily occurrence with JMEjr. We are learning that “time-out” is no longer doing it like it use to.
What is discipline for and why?
Because our boys, as we are, are fools, who lack understanding and we have been given the commission to rear them in the fear and admonishment of our Lord Jesus Christ.
