Obstinate, Pilgrim’s Progress

This morning Mr. Sandifer gave a wonderful overview of the first several chapters of Pilgrim's Progress, well he got almost to chapter 2. He gave a quote regarding a character named Obstinate. The Alexander Whyte gives a description of Obstinate's upbringing with these words:
"[Obstinate's] father was old Sparethe-rod, and his mother's name was Spoil-the-child. . . . They doted on their only child, and gave him his own way in everything. Everything he asked for he got, and if he did not immediately get it you would have heard his screams and his kicks three doors off."

Do you know this child?
Is this your child?
If so, are you this parent?

Today is not too late to change.
